Bed Hair

Another work for my concentration. I had originally set out to murder a rather stressfully inky pen. Then out came this. I bless my art teacher for suggesting to put in pencil flow-lines for the hair. I think I probably messed up big time otherwise. She said that I've added too much highlights on the hair which takes away from the detail of the rest of the picture (or something like that ^.^; it was a bit of a while ago. . .) Got a 92. . . she loves to give me 92s. I hate to see what my grade looks like when I try for AP studio design next year. Thanky ou also to my sister who introduced me to the magnificent sumi brush to fill in all the solid blacks.
I actually used reference for the face for once (good lord, someone call ricky's believe it or not! D: ! ), reference for the mantis and dragonfly found while trawling google.

This was meant to be a girl who has fallen asleep and her hair takes a life of it's own, growing leaves, turing into branches and consuming (or at least capturing) as many little woodland creatures it can before she wakes up. If ever.
